SouwfSide present
Music & Words
with Lou Rhodes and Sophie Barker

SouwfSide are very proud to present 'Music & Words'
with Lou Rhodes and Sophie Barker.

On Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th of July, the Hanbury
Arms Ballroom hosts for the first time 'Music &
Words', an ongoing series of intimate live
performances celebrating the best of UK music-makers
and songwriters.

We begin on a high: an extraordinary double bill of
debut solo shows by two adored UK female vocalists...

Lou Rhodes' angelic voice was the hallmark of Lamb's
sound over the ten years of their idiosyncratic
career. Known as much for their mesmerising live
performances as for album successes such as Lamb, Fear
of Fours and What Sound, the duo enraptured festival
audiences around the world. Since their final studio
album, 2003's Between Darkness and Wonder, and the
2004 retrospective Best Kept Secrets, that voice has
been silent. Now, Rhodes returns to the UK stage to
premiere material from her forthcoming solo debut,
Beloved One. An intimate, exclusive and bewitching
performance is guaranteed.

Zero 7 co-writer and vocalist Sophie Barker has a
notable history of artistic collaboration, having lent
her talents to Grooverider and Groove Armada (on the
platinum-selling Vertigo album) before teaming up with
Britain's chillout rulers. 'Destiny' and 'In the
Waiting Line', which Barker wrote with the duo, were
the stand-out singles from Zero 7's million-selling
debut, Simple Things. Having delivered Lullaby, a
'night-time CD for children' drawing on traditional
rhymes, in 2004, Barker now releases her
much-anticipated full solo debut and steps into the
limelight alone. Earthbound, released on 23rd of May
and produced by Robin Guthrie, is an acoustic
collection of self-penned songs which perfectly
showcase her lush, sensual vocals. Her Music and Words
set is its first live outing.

Support on both nights will come from up-and-coming
acoustic acts, local and not so local. The York-based
duo of Rami Radi and Hayley Youell open the Wednesday
6th of July show.

It doesn't stop when the live music stops, though.
SouwfSide's DJ Bantaar will spinning some of the
greatest songs ever written well into the early hours.
Expect everything from Northern Soul to Bluegrass,
from Motown to Reggae.

Lou is playing at Glastonbury me thinks..
So are Lamb officially over and done with now?

That makes me so sad, I never got to see them live. They're the only one of my favorite bands that I never saw play live. I always thought I'd get to plan a trip overseas that would include a Lamb show, but now, alas!
they've not said the end.
They're just going their own way for a while
if in doing that it all throws them back together then yeah it was meant to be.
If this means that they'll not ever play together that that's just rather unfortunate.

but for now they're working on solo projects

there's a SLIGHT hint that Lou will be playing Glasto this year.
But it's not been confirmed yet so i'll keep nagging! ;)
i would love to see Lou perform - i hope this new path goes well and she can tour Europe.

i do miss Lamb though =\
